a) Population
  The US population is 318,860,032 and Dominican Republics  is 10, 349,741, for a island the size of two New Hampshire states it really populated. 

   There is 67% of people in this country that live in urban areas, if you refer back to the map of Land Utilization in the Climate blog, you can see that there isn't much rural areas. The population in Santo Domingo is about 2.191 million according to CIA (Central Intelligence Area.) In Punta Cana the population is estimated about 10,000. 
b) Agriculture-
            i) What types of agriculture do they have and what type of diet do they have? In Dominican Republic the types of agriculture they have according to CIA is Sugarcane, coffee, cotton, cocoa, tobacco, rice, beans, potatoes, corn, bananas, pigs, dairy products, beef, and eggs. These influence a lot of their staple foods. Like for instance they have dishes made from bananas, like Mangu, boiled plantains that resemble mash potatoes and can be topped with toppings you would put in omelets. They also make Tostones , fried plantains.

c) Industry and Tourism
            i) Are industry and tourism related to geography and climate?
Tourism is a big part of D.R. industry, the favorable weather and tropical ambiance attracts many tourist like Hawaii does. They have favorable weather where they are able to grow sugar, process it and also grow tobacco. Textile industry is also a concentration, given that they do grow cotton in some parts of the country. They also have an industry for ferronickel and gold mining given that they have a lot of rugged highland,  mountains and valleys. 
d) Cultural Activities
            i) Are there any notable historical events that add to the climate/culture story? February in Dominican Republic is the month of the biggest event the Carnaval. It has been going on since 1867 and it a time to celebrate the culture by enjoying foods, drinks, music and costume. People dress in elaborate colorful costumes and also wear masks, nearly 100,000 people participate!
